Today was our first day in the 90's and tomorrow is supposed to hit the 100 degree mark. It's time to start thinking of cool weather foods because no one feels like eating anything hot.
Today at work we decided to institute a Fun Friday day. We had some fun sensory activities set out (including this ladybug sensory tub I saw on Letters, Numbers and Books oh my! .)It was a hit! We also had a dance time with some oldies music. We were making so much noise people from other classes kept looking in the windows to see what we were doing. Having fun!

Mother's Day
>
Today was really sweet. My family all got together and made me a nice breakfast of waffles, eggs, sausage and juice. For gifts I got a beautiful, green batik dress and the most gorgeous earings from the Whole Earth Festival. After we ate, we went for a visit to my mom.
I love it when we can get together in a very relaxed way because it doesn't happen very often anymore with everyone growing up and moving out.
All in all, it was a wonderful day! I love being a mom!

Spring Reading Challenge
I'm coming in a little late on the spring reading challenge over at http://callapidderdays.com/summary-of-spring-reading-thing-2009.
It runs from March 20 through June 20.
Here's my list.....
Dead Heat by Joel Rosenberg.
I've read the others and they've been very good.

A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George.
My current bible study.
http://www.amazon.com/Woman-After-Gods-Own-Heart%C2%AE/dp/0736918833/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241400706&sr=1-1
The Love Dare.
Actually re-reading (re-doing?) this again.

What In the World is Going On? by Dr. David Jeremiah
I'm doing an online study with a group. I haven't read this author before so I'm hoping it will be interesting.

Update on the flu thing!
As of this afternoon, school has been re-opened. Seems the "probable" case turned out to be the regular flu. What a relief!

It's raining, it's pouring! Isn't it interesting how a change in the weather can change your mood? This past week has been sunny and warm and I have felt full of energy. It started raining last night and hasn't stopped all this morning....I feel like I can't wake up. I'm turning lights on all over the house just to try and wake up.
The Hawk's school is closed for the next 2 weeks because of a possible case of H1N1. He's feeling pretty happy about that. :) Fortunately, we won't have to miss any work because at 14, he's pretty responsible. I think he's gonna be bored after a while. Think I'll use this time as an opportunity to get him started on packing his room...maybe some cooking lessons?
I've decided make sure I've got enough stuff to be able to self quarantine if necessary...I looked at my toilet paper stores and they were pretty sad. I need a digital ear thermometer too...no one is gonna want to put an old fashioned thermometer in their mouth if they're coughing or feeling bad. Both DH and I work at different schools in the same district...so we'll see what happens.
Might be a good idea to get antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer to keep in the car. Kind of grossing me out thinking about all the germs on shopping cart handles.
